Default Pre Wind Idea for Cantha

I have no wish for this idea to be implemented. I just thought it could have been implemented when Factions was first released. However, it would be pointless now and only require more work from A.Net that would, in the end, be unnecessary.

200 years ago, before the Jade Winds sculpted what we know now as Cantha, the traitor Shiro Tagachi betrayed Emperor Angsiyan at the Harvest Ceremony in Kaoya Zun Temple and was slain for his betrayal.

The idea for this comes from that very incident that took place so many years ago.

When your new native Canthan character spawns, you see before you delegates from the two vassal nations of Cantha: the Luxons and Kurzicks. After looking at your map briefly, you realize you are very close to the Kaoya Zun Temple, and after conversations with the delegates and other passerby, it would seem the Harvest Ceremony is approaching. A comrad of yours, Vizu, reminds you that you are there to serve the emperor of Cantha in preparations for the Ceremony and that while you are in the area you should familiarize yourself with the Luxons and Kurzicks and, more importantly, with their two prominent leaders: Archemorus and Saint Viktor, respectively.

As you learn about the forest, the sea, and the people that live there, you also learn of a fierce bodyguard: Shiro Tagachi. He is the protector of Emperor Angsiyan and will be accompanying the emperor to the temple.

On the day of the Ceremony, you stand amongst the ranks of the guards of Cantha. Unfortunately, your view is lacking, to say the least, and you never get to see the emperors face. However, it is not long until a bell atop the temple begins to sound...

Archemorus and Saint Viktor, along with many warriors of the Luxons and Kurzicks, recruit you and gather as many forces as they can and begin to ascend to the top of the temple. After reaching the top, Archemorus and Saint Viktor break the door down with ease and before you lies the corps of the emperor and his Ritualists. Enraged, you and your comrades charge at Shiro, but it is no use... Shiro appears too powerful.

As you lie on the floor, having been wounded by Shiro's blades and believing there is no hope of victory in sight, you see a mist of shadow appear above Shiro. Vizu flys with the fury of the five gods from the shadow and, with that same fury, slits the wrists of the treacherous bodyguard. Shiro, disarmed and caught off guard, turns towards Archemorus and Saint Viktor, who are now yielding his own blades. They charge at him, and with every ferver of their being, they cut him down.

Just before dying, you hear a wail that is so horrifying, it feels like it might turn your body to stone.....

200 years later...

Your character spawns just outside the Shing Jea Monastery. After talking to Instructor Ng, he reminds you of the skills that have been passed down though your family along with the experience that your ancestors have gathered as well. This is where your story begins.

I don't think it'll fit.

First, to have a newbie start there would mean needing a mentor like Instructor there. It won't fit the storyline of having some instructor teach your character the basics given the severity of their task in protecting the emperor. You just don't go walking around and talking with other people when your emperor is visiting a temple and you're tasked with standing guard.

Next, the event 200 years ago from today's Cantha was supposed to be vague. All those who were present there died and so the exact knowledge of what happened should be unfolded slowly for more effect, rather than being shown outright and then the whole campaign wouldn't have much to reveal, since you already know what happened. And what about characters of other campaigns? They won't get to see the "pre-wind" area. Do you still show the existing cutscenes? Which would just be a repeat of what the factions characters have already seen and known.

First off, you're not an elite. You're a new guard. They recruit all the time. I didn't ever say you were personally in charge of guarding the emperor. As a matter of fact, I never said you even saw the emperor. Not until his death.

Second, Anyone who's seen the Guild Wars Factions Cinematic would already have seen all this shit. Doesn't mean they know what's going on. Why did Shiro do it? Why the hell should they care after it's happened? These, and many more questions, are things that are asked even after all this crap.

Third, I wasn't aware people from Cantha and Elona could go to Pre Sear. You'll have to show me how to do that sometime.

I said this was an idea. At no point did I say I wanted this implimented here and now. If you had read the beginning, you'd know that.
